GEM THERAPY AND HEALING

THROUGH BLUE SAPPHIRE

 

Various gemstones including blue sapphire have been endowed not only with talismanic supernatural and divine powers, but also with the medicinal or curative powers. The treatment of various diseases through gemstones is given in three ways:

1. Astrological application

2. Colours and their effects on human body and behaviour

3. Medicinal uses

Astrological magic powers of blue sapphire have already been dealt with in the preceding chapter. Here, we will discuss the astrological application of blue sapphire to diagnose and treat various diseases. During recent years, colour therapy is widely being practised for the treatment of many serious diseases. In the following pages the effects of the colour of blue sapphire on various diseases will be explained. Similarly, we shall also discuss its medicinal significance including ‘Ayurveda’ – the Indian system of medicine.

The therapeutic and medicinal uses of sapphire and other gemstones have a pretty long history of their own. The Vedas, the Bible and the ancient Hindu Classics – the PURANAS have listed out a number of beneficial uses of gemstones. The various authoritative ancient books of India that deal with medicinal properties of gemstones are: Brihat Samhita, Bhava Prakash, Ayurveda Prakash, Ras-Ratna Samuchchaya and Ratna Prakash etc. These books of medical science explain lucidly as to how efficacious medicines prepared from various gemstones are, and how they are administered or applied through mouth as well as locally, and which ones are used as panacea for the cure of certain diseases.

SOME HISTORICAL FACTS

In the sixteenth century A.D. – Sapphire, Ruby, Jacinth,  Sardonyx, Emerald, Garnet and Coral were used in all the tonics prescribed for protecting the heart, against the effects of poison and the plague.

In the German drugs price list of 1757, the following gems appeared:

One pound rock-crystal              : 6 groschen

One pound Emerald                    : 8 groschen

One pound Sapphire                   : 16 groschen

A number of medicinal uses of blue sapphire are widely documented. A sapphire held against the temples stopped bleeding in the nose according to one author, while the other wrote that a whole stone laid to the forehead stopped bleeding in the nose. The many medicinal uses of sapphire may sound strange today, but were conscientiously believed to be effective in their days of popularity.

In 1750 Leonardus extended the view that the sapphire heals sores and is found to discharge a carbuncle with a single touch. According to Francis Barratt early in the nineteenth centuary, if a blue sapphire was rubbed on a new tumor and then removed, the jewel attracted the poison of the disease.

In India and the Middle East, sapphire was believed to protect the wearer against the evil eye, bring peace of mind, and provide relief from headache.

While India has profusely used gemstones for medicinal purposes, other countries have not lagged behind in making pharmacological uses of them. According to Thorndike the Egyptians and other people of the near East had a well developed pharmacology. It is said that the Arabs had first shaped gemstone therapy into a system. According to Schmidt's source of information, namely H. Funher’s Lithotherapic (Berlin, 1902), Arab physicians were the first to separate the medicinal uses of gemstones from their talismanic uses, and placed gemstones in the class of specific medicines capable of being prescribed for various ailments.

Astrological Application of GEMS

As stated earlier the gem therapy is applied by wearing gemstones on certain parts of the body or by administering ashes, pills or powder etc. made from gemstones Astrological application of blue sapphire and some other gemstones to cure certain diseases or ailments is made by wearing or possessing the gem in a particular manner. Their weight, size, time of application etc. have been discussed in the preceding chapter. It may again be cautioned that the gemstones must only be used (worn) according to the favourable planetary position in the zodiac of the user.

The following considerations must be kept in mind:

1. The zodiac and the planets should be posited in a particular house from which they influence various parts of the body.

2. The hours of the day

3. The human body, its various parts and their governing planets

4. The blue sapphire is too cold, hence should not be worn singly. As a precaution, before using blue sapphire, a red thread around the waist and a copper ring in the first finger and a red coral ring in Anamika or the third finger should be worn.

It is further advisable that the gems should be used after obtaining expert astrological guidance and it may also be noted that gems are used as a second line of defence against any disease. Total reliance on gems is not desirable.

4.	CANCER An abnormal, uncontrolled and lawless growth of body cells is called cancer. A malignant tumour ultimately turns into cancer. Sometimes groups of cells grow wildly and crowed out normal and useful cells and steal their food supply. Cigarette smoking, chewing betel leaves with tobacco excessively, frequent child-births, excessive drinking etc. may also cause cancer of lungs, stomach and liver, uterus, tongue, mouth and throat etc.	There are many planetary combinations which are responsible for causing cancer in the human body. Astrologically If the Moon is afflicted by three malefics in any sign in the zodiac. 1. Evil relationship between Jupiter and Saturn. 2. Conjunction of Saturn, Ketu and Jupiter or Jupiter, Ketu and Venus or The Moon, Ketu and Saturn; The Moon, Ketu and Mars or the Moon, Rahu and Saturn in any sign.	Saturn governs our head and stomach. It also controls the central nervous system situated in the brain. A light blue sapphire can control these two vital centres of the body and provide relief from all diseases. The light blue sapphire wields miraculous and wonderful healing powers. If this gem is worn in Madhyama (Middle finger) of the right hand, it keeps the body in perfectly good condition. By using light blue sapphire in the following manner further development of cancer can be prevented. By reading the horoscope one can protect oneself by using this stone in very early life : i) Winter : Light blue sapphire 4 cts. and red coral 6 cts. ii) Summer : Light  blue sapphire 6 cts. and red coral 6 cts.
5.	JAUNDICE Jaundice is caused when bile pigment carried to the liver could not be excreted and it remains in the blood-stream. Main Symptoms : Fever, pain in stomach, liver becomes tender or enlarged, urine contains abundant bile pigment and bile acids, anaemia, itching of skin, gastro-intestinal disturbances etc.	Jupiter is the main karak planet for jaundice. It governs our liver. When afflicted by malefics like Saturn, Mars or Rahu it gives troubles. The sign Cancer also governs our stomach as it is a watery sign. Its ruler is the Moon, hence if the Moon is afflicted by Malefics in 4 th –5 th -7 th houses, it causes jaundice. Mars or Saturn, if posited in Cancer, also causes liver trouble. Similarly, if Rahu or Ketu is posited in the 7 th house, Jaundice may occur.	Different planets govern different parts of our stomach: The Sun : Glands Mercury : Nerves Jupiter : Liver Saturn : Spleen and intestinal nerves Mars : Muscles Saturn stone is light blue sapphire. It is worn along with another stone. Complete recovery from jaundice within 3- 4 days may be expected: 1. Deep red coral weighing 7/8 carats on right arm to be worn with a red thread. 2. Very light blue sapphire of 5 carats on middle finger of right hand along with one copper ring on the first finger of left hand as an added precaution.
6.	LEUCODERMA Multiple or single white patches appearing on the skin are called leucoderma. These are due to an excess of melan, a chemical substance in the skin.	There are many planetary combinations which produce this disease, viz.: 1. The Moon, Mars and Saturn are placed in Aries or Taurus. 2. If Saturn is placed in the 12th Mars, in the 2nd Moon in the ascendant and the Sun in the 7th. 3. If the Moon and Venus are conjoined in a watery sign (Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces). 4. The Lord of the Ascendant or the Moon and Mars if afflicted by Rahu or Ketu. 5. Venus governs our skin and facial beauty, if it is debilitated or afflicted by malefics in a watery sign or posited in her enemy’s sign. The Sun and the Moon are enemy planets of Venus. Leo is ruled by the Sun and Cancer is ruled by the Moon, hence, Venus if placed in Cancer or Leo and afflicted by malefics like Saturn, Mars or Rahu, usually causes this trouble. 7.	POLIOMYELITIS (Infantile Paralysis): It is an acute, infectious disease that sometimes kills and sometimes cripples. It is a disease of the central nervous system. Polio viruses invade by way of the mouth. The patient suffers from fever, chill, malaise, headache, nausea, v o m i t i n g constipation and sore throat. It occurs chiefly in infants and children but older persons are not exempt.	Saturn is the chief karaka Planet of this disease because it governs our central nervous system situated in the brain.  Medically it is also  related with stomach.  The astrological  reasons for the cause of this disease may be: 1. The first house of the zodiac in Aries,  which governs our  brain. If 3-4  malefics are  posited here there is every possibility  of getting this  disease. 2. Libra is the  opposite sign of  Aries. If 2-3  malefics are found  here, the native  may suffer from  this disease.  3. The 5 th house  governs our  stomach. Any  affliction of this house by 2-3  malefics may give rise to this disease. 4. Similarly, the 11 th house in the  opposite sign of  the 5 th house,  hence, if 2-3 malefics are found here, a cause may  arise.  5. If Ketu is posited  in any of the 1 st , 5 th ,  7 th , 11 th house, the  native may be attacked by this disease.	Since Saturn is the chief causative planet for  p o l i o m y e l i t i s , wearing very light  blue sapphire duly accompanied by  one deep red coral  in 8 cts. on the  right arm and one  copper ring on the Tarjani of left hand  will be quite useful. The weight of light Blue sapphire should not exceed 5 cts. for adults and 2 cts. for children.
8.	EAR TROUBLES Accumulation of wax  in the ear generally  causes ear troubles.	The planet Saturn governs the ear and Mercury rules over ear nerves. The third house of the Zodiac i.e. Gemini (Ruler-Mercury) and the eleventh house i.e. Aquarius (Ruler Saturn) control the right and the left ears. Saturn also governs our sense of hearing.	The gems, Emerald in 5.3 carats on middle finger and Blue sapphire or lapis-lazuli in 4 carats on little finger may ward off ear t r o ub l e s completely.
9.	EYE TROUBLES Some specific virus and the excess of red rays in our body cause conjunctivitis.   Cataract is another trouble which is caused when the crystalline lens of the eye is clouded gradually and diminishing of vision takes place.	It is caused by the Sun or Mars when they are in the houses of Tauras or Pisces.   Mercury rules our eye sight. So, Mars in the 2 nd or Venus in the 12 th house, if afflicted by Saturn or Rahu may give rise to defective vision.	Gazing at the Emerald may improve one’s eyesight. At the same time combined use of Emerald, Pearl and Blue Sapphire or Lapis-lazuli will cure all sorts of eye troubles. Cataract in the eye can also be cured by using all the above mentioned gems without operation.

 

Similarly blue sapphire is useful in curing and controlling the cirrhosis of liver, Arthritis, Paralysis, Gout or Rheumatism etc. It may be noted here that a gem is nothing but a sort of  medicine in disguise. It is not useful all the year round and in all  diseases. It requires to be changed according to the climatic changes and according to the nature of the disease and the movement of the pository planets in the Zodiac.

According to one authority, it is important to note that for prevention of diseases different stones are worn on different parts of the body : The jacinth should be worn on the neck.  The Diamond should be worn on the left arm. The sapphire should be worn on the ring finger. The Ruby or Turquoise should be worn on the Index or little finger.

Effects of Colours on Human Body and Behaviour

The human body is composed of seven primary colours  of the Solar spectrum. They are: Violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. Deficiency of some or the other colour may cause diseases in the body. Colours have been a strong force in building our health and career. The Sun is the sole source of all colours. Nothing could possibly exist on the earth  without Sun’s rays. These are essential for the life and growth of all living creatures. Each cell of human body has in its composition the seven colours of the Sun. A state of equilibrium of these colours is required to be maintained in order to keep  body health. In case this equilibrium is disturbed or thrown out of order or is rendered deficient of any colour, diseases invade human body. For instance, excess of red rays in the body causes boils, abscess, curbuncles, tumours, conjunctivitis, headache etc. whereas, the deficiency of red rays cause fever, inflammatory complaints, piles, fistula, small pox, blood-disorders, physical disabilities etc. Hence, red rays are essential for curing diseases of the blood-stream, anaemia, impending collapse etc.

We have already discussed points relating to the electromagnetic light rays of gemstones which owe to the nine planets. In fact there is a close relationship or affinity between the nine planets and the gemstones which can safely be called as representatives of the planets. In ‘Jatak Parijat’; an authoritative Indian treatise on astrology, this affinity is described in the following stanza in Sanskrit :-

It means that the Sun’s gem is Ruby, the Moon’s white Pearl, the Mars' Red Coral, the Mercury’s Emerald, the Jupiter’s Yellow Sapphire, the Rahu’s Gomeda, the Ketu’s Cat’s eye. The above relation of planets with gemstones is based on their respective colours. The following lines from ‘Jatak Parijat’ would further describe the colours of various planets:

According to that, the Sun has mixed colour of black and red (dark red), the Moon contains white colour, the Mercury is of grass green colour, the Mars has the mixture of red and white, the Jupiter is endowed with fair complexion, the Venus is white, the Saturn is black, the Rahu is blue and the Ketu has a strange luminescence of its own.

Similarly, ‘Brihat Jatak’ of Varaha Mihir puts these colours with a slight variation.

Thus, taking into account the colour contents of the planets as well as of the gemstones we come to the conclusion that the sole basis of their relationship is colour. From time immemorial, colour has been a strong force in building our career. Colours are present everywhere in the form of rays and radiations. We now discuss what each colour signifies and how that colour makes or moulds our lives :-

RED COLOUR (Controller of the Sun and Mars)

Red colour is the colour of war, dispute, quarrel, destruction and devastation. It symbolizes passion, power, glow and warmth of fire. It offers authority and power. A person who has affinity with or preference for this colour may become a ruler, leader or administrator. Such a person is noble, large-hearted, magnanimous and generous. Red colour gives him drive, edurance, boldness, frankness and other qualities in order to enable him to lead a life full of adventure.

Absence or deficiency of red colour in our body causes diseases like anaemia, indigestion, mental trouble, hysteria, physical debility etc. On the other hand, excess of red colour  causes boils, abscess, carbuncles, conjunctivitis, itching, headache etc. which can only be cured by using a cold stone like moon stone, yellow sapphire, blue sapphire etc.

Mars rules over our sensations, desires and feelings. The varying shades of red colour indicate various desires and feelings viz. anger is expressed by deep red flashes on a dark background, animal passion is denoted by a lurid flaming red. Thick and  very dark red, almost black denotes hatred and malice while crimson red indicates strong affection and a fine clear rose-pink symbolises pure and unselfish affection. Thus, red colour has great significance in all spheres of life.

BLUE COLOUR (Controller of Jupiter and Venus)

It is heaven’s own colour, the colour of religion, art, music, tranquility, pity and peace, chastity and loyalty. It can calm anger and passion. Light blue is under control of Jupiter and deep blue under Venus. Since, two beneficial planets govern this colour, it can be termed as the most vital colour for materialprosperity in life.

Blue is a cold colour. If the bedroom is coloured blue, it ensures quick sleep. It is the colour of peace and tranquility hence useful for insane, mad men and women suffering from hysteria. Their frayed nerves and excited tempers can be smoothened by means of blue-ray therapy. This colour denotes a mild harmonious nature with a desire to get happiness in all spheres of life. Persons swayed by blue generally attain love, beauty, charm, gaiety and the creation of comfortable surroundings. Their home life is peaceful and they enjoy lasting friendships. Their social side of life is always delightful, loving  and appreciating. Their fate is affected by friends and associates. On the other hand, they are careless and lazy and given too much to pleasure. Lack of harmony often disturbs them.

Blue colour rules over glands, one's fate and life principle generally. The gems moon stone, topaz, blue sapphire are aperennial source of supply of blue colour to human body.

Absence or deficiency of blue rays causes throat troubles, laryngitis, goiter, hoarseness, scarlet fever, typhoid, cholera, plague, hysteria, epilepsy, palpitation, jaundice, diarrhoea, dysentery, inflamed eyes, toothache, tonsillitis etc. All these diseases can be cured by supplying blue rays into the body.

GREEN COLOUR (Controller of Mercury)

Green is the colour of spring time and of youth and hope. It represents new life and nature. Persons swayed by this colour hate to grow old and want to remain always young. They are generous, good natured and happy-go-lucky people, but, at the same time, they are rather irresponsible, restless, and fond of change; witty but not reliable.  

It is the colour of planet Mercury which is inconstant and desires quick change. Mercurians think fast, act fast and talk fast. This planet denotes mental capacities and controls the thinking mind. Diseases like mental illness and hysteria caused by absence of green colour or by the evil aspects of Saturn or Rahu or Mercury can be cured by applying green rays.

Deficiency of green colour in our body can develop gastric ulcer, dysentery, diarrhoea, peptic ulcer, cirrhosis of liver, fever, headache, asthma, heart trouble etc. The gems Emerald and Acquamarine have powers to cure the above diseases. Green colour combined with yellow gives us health, wealth, riches etc. Moreover, it improves the talented parts of the human system i.e. it governs our intellect, wisdom and thinking mind.

VIOLET (Controller of Saturn)

Violet is a soothing and harmonious colour with its medicative side. Persons swayed by the influence of this colour are generally patient, serious and reserved in nature. They are also found to be lazy, lethargic and idle as Saturn is lame. Blue Sapphire looks blue in colour but under a glass prism it reflects violet colour. Plodding, perseverence, patience, economy, saving, endurance, stability, self control etc. are attributed to persons who come under the influence of violet colour. Success generally comes late in their life. But the Saturnian influence is scholarly and scientific.

Saturn is the bridge between the spiritual instinct and animal instinct in man. The highest quality of Saturn is perfection and its other qualities are responsibility, accuracy, precision and definiteness.

Deficiency of violet colour in our body may cause diseases like paralysis, deafness, sciatica, nervous disorders, gastric ulcer, arthritis, baldness, madness, mental illness, hysteria, fainting fits, vomiting, headache, earache, brain disorders etc.  

Saturn rules over the nervous system and its violet colour satisfies nerve hunger. The colour of the human skin is violet, and blue sapphire with its violet colour can nourish the skin and cure skin diseases. Very chronic leucoderma cases can be cured by blue sapphire and its violet rays.

ORANGE (Controller of the Moon)

It is the colour of high aspirations, the colour of the planet Moon which represents the whole of the human body. Persons swayed by this colour are good tempered, self-sufficient, tolerant, forbearing and kind. They like children but do not like arguments and petty quarrels.

Pearl, though white in colour, when viewed through a prism reflects orange colour. It being cold releases cold rays of orange colour which are capable of curing diseases arising out of heat and hot rays in heart diseases. Deficiency of orange colour in our body leads to diseases like fever, cough and cold, mental debility, liver and urine troubles, dysentery, diarrhea, insanity, etc. Orange rays can cure chronic asthma, phlegmatic fever, cold  bronchitis, inflammation of kidneys, gall stones, prolapse, cessation of menstruation in females etc.

YELLOW (Controller of Mars and Jupiter)

It is the colour of fire with its quality of heat in the form of thermal equilibrium of the human body. It is governed by the planet Mars and the Red Coral which are abundant sources of this colour.

Yellow denotes the scientific mind that overcomes ignorance. It brings wisdom and makes one creative. It is the colour of ripe corn and gives money and material prosperity in life. Since yellow colour is also the colour of Jupiter, it ensures security in married life and prevents unhealthy marital relationships. Persons swayed by this colour are ambitious, bold, courageous and pushing. They are honest, friendly, generous, charitable and are impelled by high ideals.

Deficiency of yellow colour in our body causes diseases like stomach troubles, indigestion, flatulence, liver troubles jaundice, cirrhosis of liver, blood disorders, pleurisy, mental depression etc.. The gems, yellow sapphire and emerald have powers to cure these diseases completely.

INDIGO (Controller of Venus)

It is the colour of the water element which exists in the human body in the shape of thick lymphs and sperms. Indigo or ultramarine is a borderline colour with a purplish tinge having basic qualities of blue. A diamond when viewed through a prism appears to be  indigo-blue in colour. Deficiency of indigo colour in our body gives diseases of private parts, impotency, diabetes, venereal diseases, eczema, sore throat, skin-eruptions and diseases of the generative organs. Persons swayed by this influence follow artistic and musical pursuits and get general prosperity in life. They will be upright and sympathetic, usually popular, agreeable, friendly, amiable, sociable, fond of family, children and pets, fond of articles of beauty, pleasure and luxury.

Venus is the planet of refined taste. Its influence upon health is good as it is vitalizing and nourishing. Its influence upon money matters is also good, especially in a good aspect of Saturn or the Moon.

OTHER COLOURS (Colour Combinations)

White: It is the mother of all colours, which represents truth, purity and peace. The Moon represents white colour and she is known as the mother of the universe.

Black: It is not a primary colour of the solar-spectrum. It represents night and is almost regarded as an evil colour associated with death and destruction. It is the colour of Saturn.

When primary colours and their respective hues are mixed, some new colours like brown, grey, maroon, lavender, purple, olive, crimson, scarlet, cream, pink etc. emerge. The effects of these mixed colours are determined by the gravity of one or the other primary colour.

HOW DO GEMS CURE ?

It is now clear that the human body is composed of cells and groups of cells. Each cell has in its composition the seven colours of the Sun. Our health is a static or hormonised state of cosmic energy in our body. A particular type of deficiency in chromatic energy results in a particular type of colour hunger which is further manifested in the form of a disease. In order to recover or to get cured from such diseases, deficient colours  are required to be injected into or recouped by our body by any means.  

There are various ways of recouping these colours, viz. by taking medicines or water specially prepared under Sun-rays passed through the glasses of required colours or through the use of gemstones. Gems are a perennial source of these colours. Each gem has a specific and inexhaustible potential of a particular type of colour-energy vibrations with its specific wavelength which is different for different gemstones.

It is remarkable to note that such an abundant and perennial source of a specific wavelength of gemstone colour is not exhausted even after its constant use for several years.

Researches have emerged with astounding dimension of healing through gem-therapy. Two Radiesthesia scientists have experimented widely on gems and established the practice of using gems. One of the scientists has developed a system of diagnosis based on matching the frequency of a patient’s blood samples with a particular gem and advocated its use for health. Medicinal Uses of Blue Sapphire

The medicinal uses of blue sapphire and other gemstones, too, have a pretty long history of their own. Their medicinal powers were discovered and have been used from time immemorial. The VEDAS, the BIBLE, and the PURANAS have listed out a number of beneficial uses of blue sapphire and other gemstones. The various authoritative books of India containing the medicinal properties of gemstones are: BRIHAT SAMHITA, BHAVA PRAKASH, AYURVEDA PRAKASH, RASA-RATNA SAMUCHCHAYA, etc. These authoritative ancient books of medical science contain details as to how efficacious are medicines prepared from various gemstones, how they are administered orally as well as locally; and which ones are used as panacea for certain human diseases.

The usual forms of such medicines are BHASMA i.e. ashes produced after putting the gemstone under heat at various degrees, powder and the PISTHI (powdered form mixed with other medicines and ground with stones by hand through a very tedious process). As regards the efficacy of these ashes, powders and pisthies in different quantities, it is said, that they are the surest remedies of certain diseases and exhibit miraculous effects where medical sciences fail miserably. The medical authorities go to the extent of saying that afflicted human bodies considered corpses, when treated with the aforesaid gemstone medicines, begin to move and are restored to normalcy.

As stated above, India has profusely used gemstones for medicinal purposes, but other countries have also not lagged behind in making pharmacological uses of them. According to Thorn dike the Egyptians and other people of the Near East had a well developed pharmacology. It is said that the Arabs had first shaped gemstone therapy into a system. They were the first to have separated the medicinal uses of gemstones from their talismanic uses and placed gemstones in the class of specific medicines. According to Fuhner – gemstones were first introduced into European pharmacopoeias through the Arabs. In this regard, Kunz also says that gemstones were an indispensable part of MATERIA MEDICA in the ancient times. Garboe quotes the ‘Pharmacopoei Augustana’ of 1622 which gave recipes in which gemstones were combined with plant and animal substances. Later on, as the pharmacology advanced several uses of blue sapphire and other gemstones were discovered to treat various diseases.

The medicinal uses of blue sapphire are widely documented. Some of them may sound strange today but were always believed to be true in their days of popularity. Powdered sapphire mixed with milk was used as a wash to heal sores and boils. There were also some reports about dissolving sapphire dust in vinegar and lemon juice to make medicine.

In pharmacies of old, sapphire was used as a charm against swellings, boils, ruptures, profuse perspiration, poisons, melancholy and flatulence. Sapphire solutions were used in all fluxes of the belly, dysentery, hemorrhoids and other bleeding problems. They were used to cure ulcers and wounds, and to heal ruptured membranes. In the belief that it would strengthen the heart, sapphire was placed near it on the body or used as a pendant.

 

VARIOUS USES UNDER “AYURVEDA” –  THE INDIAN SYSTEM OF MEDICINE

‘Ayurveda’ is the complete science of medicine. Very fine powders, ashes and pastes (Churans, Bhasmas & Pishties) of various gemstones have been used since primitive times. Specific methods of their preparation are laid down in the ancient books of Ayurveda. The medicines prepared with gems have proved to be a penacea even for fatal diseases. Like other gemstones blue sapphire is equally useful in preparing Ayurvedic medicines. First of all a fine piece of sapphire is selected and purified by:

1. Keeping it in lemon juice for 3 days, or

2. Boiling it in some sour juice for 3 hours.

POWDER OF BLUE SAPPHIRE

The purified piece of sapphire is now ready for further process. If we want to powder it, it should be ground in a marble grinder. It is entirely a hand-process and goes on for several hours till the gem is converted into a very fine powder, which should then be sieved through a piece of cloth. It is again pulverised in rose water or water of bedmusk to be ground further. When reduced to superfine powder it may be taken with honey, milk, cream, ginger juice or a betel leaf. This powder is useful and indicated for the treatment of chronic fever, epilepsy, softness of brain, insanity, hiccups, hysteria, neuritis, pain in the joints and mental diseases.

ASHES OF BLUE SAPPHIRE

The powder of blue sapphire is added to some other chemicals and then pulverised in lemon juice for 7 days and tablets prepared. These dried tables are then put into a small earthen pot which is later on kept under a specially prepared furnace repeatedly for 8 times. In the end, the tablet is crushed to make fine powder and the sapphire ash is ready for use as a medicine.

The ash of blue sapphire when duly consumed mixed with some other medicines is very useful for the vitality of health. It cures disorders of brain and the effect of poison, increases appetite and provides relief from chronic coughs and bronchitis. It is also useful in skin diseases, acute fever, T.B. etc.

‘PISHTI’ OF BLUE SAPPHIRE

Blue-sapphire’s powder when pulversied with rose water continuously for 21 days and then dried and converted into fine powder makes a powerful medicine. As mentioned earlies, this ‘Pishti’ isvery useful in many urinary, bronchital and bleeding diseases, if it is taken with cow milk, milk-cream etc.

Thus, we see that the efficacy of blue sapphire ashes, powders and ‘pishties’, if taken under expert medical guidance is beyond doubt. They prove to be the surest remedies of various acute and chronic diseases and exhibit miraculous effect where medical science has failed miserably.
