Memo to President Barack Obama
My Dear Charismatic Young President Mr. Barack Obama
Sub: New Action Plan to boost economy and have sustained growth rate of 10% per year in GDP.
Hon’ble President
Congratulation for selecting excellent economic team in this dire economic situation. I would like to submit a humble plan for boosting U.S. economic growth as under:
ACTION PLANS
1. America must plan for 110% self sufficiency in energy and oil within the next 5 years. These are emergency economic times Therefore, all restrictions on Oil and Natural Gas drilling in America and off shore should be lifted with focus on safe guarding environment at the same time. At present, China is the biggest polluter in the world and India is the number 3rd because they cannot afford astronomical high oil prices so they are burning coal, which produces a high amount of carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere, to get the big part of their energy need. If, America follows this program of energy sufficiency, then, oil prices will come down drastically which will induce China and India to burn less coal, thereby lowering Global Warming.
2. A new energy team should be created with experts from the environment protection agency, federal treasury department, and oil companies. They should be entrusted the task of setting up of 200 new oil companies and allocating proper drilling rights to them and especially all necessary Govt. clearance and Land should be allocated or purchased in these companies.
They should be given a time frame task of 6 months. Once these new companies get ready to start actual work, they should be auctioned off to the U.S. registered companies without any bureaucratic delay so that they may start work immediately.
3. Treasury and Federal agency should give loan guarantees up to 1 trillion dollars to these companies, so that they can raise needed cash at a very low interest rate.
4. Similarly 50 new oil refinery companies should be set up with all clearance and auctioned off.
5. To make available perfect skilled workers in energy section, Govt. should give scholarship to 100,000 students and help by opening 10 new
Universities only dedicated to energy. Government should allocate 10 billion dollars for this purpose.
6. We also need nuclear energy. That’s why another 100 nuclear power plant companies with latest technology should be created by the Govt. And Govt. should to give all clearance without any delay to these new Govt. companies.
7. Then these companies should be auctioned off to U.S. private companies. 30 billion dollar subsidy may be allocated for this purpose.
8. A fund of 50 billion dollar should be allocated to conduct research in 100 new alternative energy fields.
This one step will bring America many new technologies.
9. A new T.V. channel on energy should be started, focused only on ‘ENERGY’. Subsidy by government to be given $: 100 Million. This new TV channel will focus on promoting energy saving techniques and promoting new inventions in these fields help promote research in 100 new alternate energy.

SETTING UP A FREE VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY
College education is getting more and more expensive every year in America. Presently, it is getting out of reach for many a families belonging to middle and poor class in the society. A general study of the society reveals the fact that a person having completed college education certainly leads much better life than a person educated up to high school level.
Therefore, to help bridge this gap and bring prosperity to one and all in the society, I suggest that the Federal Government should provide the fund worth $ 3 Billion per annum to launch a Free Virtual University as proposed above. A non-profit autonomous body comprised of the best brains available in the country should conduct the functioning of this university.
The university should be able to provide education in some 500 different avenues. A total of 5,000 professors will work full time and 10,000 professors part time to impart the quality education to the participants of the new courses to be envisaged. The courses should be available in 500 different chat rooms for mutual consultations among the participants. The Virtual University should be entitled to provide regular degrees to those persons who qualify the course of their choice.
The proposed Virtual University will also have 2,000 professors in foreign countries to teach the participants siting right at their homes. If this project is implemented in a proper manner, this will revolutionize college education throughout the world. The university will run on the patterns of other universities of the world. Internet facilities should also be established to help provide peer to peer (P to P) learning, like -Napster.
This Free Virtual University will also go a long way in generating goodwill and love for America all across the globe.
Total Investment : $ 3 Billion

HOW TO GIVE TRAINING IN LATEST SKILLS AND JOBS TO TEN MILLION AMERICANS
EVERY YEAR
The rate of unemployment is persisting at a very high level of 7.2% which may easily go up to 9.5% this year. However, the GDP growth is at a considerably low level as compared to China and other Asian countries. To remedy this problem I suggest the following action plan:
Vocational Training through Interactive DVDs.
To impart the latest technical, financial and practical training apt to the 21st century, we must provide every American the best possible knowledge and training in some one thousand different fields which are essential for development of America.
Therefore, interactive DVD programs should be developed for each of these one thousand subjects that may help provide specialized skilled jobs to the American youth. These programs should be able to gather and comprehensively present the most advantageous knowledge available throughout the world on each subject. This in turn would help an average American to easily understand and assimilate the knowledge and utilize it for his livelihood.
All the school buildings in America may be put to use for this purpose after school hours, and the classes may be conducted free of charge. In each class, knowledge pertaining to a particular skill may be imparted to the participants. Volunteers and teachers may be trained and employed to conduct such classes. This would help the students to assimilate the knowledge through these interactive DVDs and Internet. The basic thrust will be on imparting the skills that are in great demand through a system, where learning is made easy and cost effective. For example, teaching a course in the class on painting the interiors of any establishment like - an office, household or a commercial complex. A competent and trained faculty will not only teach, how one can paint a room, but would also brief the participants on some basic information like - the equipments and paints used, their quality and places where from the required material may be procured etc. These training programs based on DVDs may be developed with the assistance of competent professionals having the expertise on the subject and who are the best in their respective fields.
Scholarships should also be provided to research scholars in each of these fields by the Government to encourage the researchers involved in the job. These interactive DVDs along with instruction manuals may be sold in the open market at a very nominal cost say, 2 to 5 dollar per piece. Americans all across the country will surely be encouraged to buy these well-made interactive DVDs.
In the current era of infotainment, education needs to be backed up by an element of entertainment. Keeping this in view, consultation and guidance may be sought from Hollywood’s renowned film directors like Steven Spielberg for getting their expertise in inducing element of human emotions decked with entertainment in these educational DVDs. This would help develop the educational content in an easier and user-friendly manner. It will make people really desirous to learn through these DVDs. The DVDs may be promoted in such a way that they gain the popularity similar to super hit movies like ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Titanic’.
This DVD based vital educational program should be within the reach of every segment of the society, to extend its benefits to the hundreds of millions of Americans sitting right at the their homes.
I hereby suggest an action plan for creating jobs and reducing unemployment :
1. Setting up of 100,000 classes of DVDs program all over the country from countryside to the urban counterparts. This vocational video-training program will run after study hours in school and college buildings or any other available public or private building.
2. Making of 1000 best possible video films on all jobs, trades, small industries, agriculture etc.
(i) Industries may be obliged to create training courses in their respective trade to provide technical training to 10 % of their labor strength drawn from dependents and relatives of their own employees.
(ii) Employ 10,000 technically trained instructors for this purpose, train them with the methods to instruct and teach using these videos. These faculties will also be used to spot proper talent and desire in the students and guide them properly to adopt vocations of their choice. They will also impart training to other voluntary faculties so that they can also teach.
(iii) The faculties would be responsible to impart practical training and to refer the trainees to bigger training centers. After completion of video and practical training, faculties would help the trained persons in seeking career and getting jobs.
(iv) The basic thrust of the program will be to help unemployed or semi-employed to acquire technical skills of their choice. It will help them to seek a suitable job or enable them for self-employment.
3. Prepare detailed instruction manuals for each of these vocational training courses synchronized with videos. These video training courses will reduce the time required for getting practical training, the trainees would be exposed to the latest technical know-how in their chosen vocation.
4. Set up 1000 practical training centers for students, after they have completed their three months intensive training. This is very essential to provide them first hand practical training.
5. A Panel of scientists and businessmen should be constituted to find out and invent ways to integrate these technologies for American situations.
Launching National and International TV channel
A 24-Hour national television channel may also be launched to promote these 1000 skill oriented courses. People can choose the occupation that suits their personality by watching the educative films on this TV channel. This will also help the youth in identifying and selecting the best avenues for their career.
"A person can only be happy and successful in his life, if he does the thing of his liking for his livelihood." In other words we can say that if a person chooses a profession that he likes, he never has to really work. But, if he engages himself in a profession he does not like, he has to slog in his entire life. This will create a better environment for learning.
PROJECTED YEARLY EXPENDITURE ON THE PROJECT
Particulars In Dollars
1. Investment in making and upgrading these 1000 interactive DVDs ($1 Million each, on 1000 subjects) 1 billion.
2. Expenses on running of 24 hour TV channel 500 million
3. Salaries of part time faculties (10,000 special faculties X $2000 each per month X 12 months) 2.4 billion
4. Administrative & operational expenses 100 million
5. Expenses on Virtual University for 1000 courses 1 Billion
Total 10 Billion
Calculations for the number of persons getting trained in one year:
= 15 students in each class of 3 months duration
x 2 classes per day of 2 hours
x 4 sets of classes in one year
= 120 students getting trained in one year
x 100,000 class rooms
= 12 million students per year.
2 million subtract for student drop outs and multiple courses
= 10 million students per year will get training for 21st century jobs.
Therefore, with a small investment of $1000 per person American Government can provide a strongly framed training program to millions of Americans in their desired field. After completing their training successfully they may work as trainees, apprentices, probationers etc. in their desired field to gain practical knowledge initially and finally getting absorbed in the industry.
Millions of Americans and others in the world will benefit from buying these DVDs for a reasonable price and studying at their own home with the help of free National Virtual University. The complete project including syllabus may also be promoted through virtual university. This would enable people all across the globe to search into any of these various 1000 types of training programs. Access to these subjects through virtual university will give people an opportunity to learn and research the subjects conveniently. They will also be able to interact and get assistance from the top experts in their respective fields.
Today, the US government is spending billions of tax payers’ money in the areas where no tangible returns are generated, while in this program with a small investment of $ 10 billion a year, US government will be getting more than $ 100 billion every year as an additional tax revenue from these new skilled workers. Thus, the Government will be saving additional expenditures of billions of dollars being incurred on the programs for unemployed. Therefore, this program may be taken up at a war footing level to immensely benefit an average American.
The program will also help enhance American image in the world, as millions of people all over the world will be able to learn a productive skill absolutely free.
Total Investment : $ 10 Billion
Addition : $ 500 Billion Growth in GNP
Annexure 3
HOW TO DOUBLE FARMER'S INCOME IN 5 YEARS
It is a pity that in this great land of ours which feeds million of people throughout the world with its vast agriculture production, the farmers are suffering the most. The following action plan can help increase the earning of American farmers and at the same time best quality of fruits, vegetables, legumes and herbal products would be available to the average American families at affordable prices.
Many farmers are getting bankrupt in America. It is of utmost national importance to raise the living standards of farmers by providing new avenues and jobs of their choices at their respective native places.
If the following action plan is implemented properly, it will help create 2 million new jobs. It will increase farmers’ average income by at least 75-150% in next five years. It will also generate huge additional revenue for the Government.

LOW COST TECHNIQUE FOR IMPROVING AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION
"One will be astonished to know the fact that plants too enjoy music, the way human beings do. Melodious music cheer them up with great happiness. Fast growth is an evidence of their happiness with music. In 1986, Dr. T.N Singh, a professor of Botany at Annamalai University in India proved to the world by means of a scientific research, that melodious songs/music has a positive role to play on plants in the nurseries. He did Veena (an Indian musical instrument similar to violin) recital in front of some nurseries 25 minutes daily for about one month. It was noticed that the Veena recital had a more favourable effect on the growth of the nurseries.
Professor Singh had done another experiment in Chennai and Pondichery in India. He placed one loudspeaker and sang Rag (a melody group) Charukeshi for some days in a paddy field. It was noticed that there was an increase of 25-60% yields in his paddy field. Music also had an effect on the cultivation of tobacco and groundnut crops. It increased the production by about 50%.
The sound waves from the steps of Bharat Natyam performers without wearing ghunghroos, on a piece of land helped the growth of nearby nurseries and it bloomed a week before its due time as compared to other nurseries. Inspired by this experiment of Dr. Singh, Mr. George E. Smith of Illinoise University of America conducted a research on the nurseries. Through this research he proved that the branches of the plant become more fat, stronger and greener as compared to others with the help of music.
Research in this area has proved that music has a conducive effect on the nurseries. Now, a new branch of science called ‘Photo Sonics’ has come into being, in which we study the art of sound waves and their effect on the plants.
The above research proves beyond doubt that plants grow much faster and better, if proper music is provided to the plants at appropriate time slots. Therefore, we recommend that this research knowledge should be promoted and used for enhancing agricultural yield in America.

REFORMS IN EDUCATION SYSTEM
The present education system at school/college level certainly helps the youth in enhancing the level of their knowledge. But, this alone is not sufficient. To ensure overall development of their personality, additional skills beyond the curriculum should be taught at various levels of education. Following subjects should be included in the curriculum at high schools/colleges in America:
1. Meditation - The modern lifestyle is full of stress, which is responsible for many diseases. It is very important to learn to cope up with stress. Meditation is the most convenient way to counter our anxiety and tension. If children are taught the techniques of meditation at early age, they can learn and include the practice in their habits.
2. Music - Music is universally known for its anti-depressant, soothing and relaxing properties. It is undoubtedly the most popular means of entertainment and relaxation throughout the world.
GGood music rejuvenates the nervous system by facilitating proper flow of neurons thereby tantalizing the mind and body. Thus music keeps mind healthy, and healthy mind in turn makes the body healthy. For the same reason, it is advantageous to include music in school education to make Americans healthier and happy. It has already been proved that Beethoven and Backh music stimulates positive energy in the human brain.
3. Training in Nutrition - Today obesity is growing rapidly in America and the children and the teens are the major victims. Obesity is directly related with what we eat and how much physical work we do. Therefore, children should be educated and proper training on nutrition should be imparted in schools. They will develop good eating habits if they know what they should eat and how important it is to add fruits, vegetables and legumes to their diet. This training should be given while keeping in mind children’s psychology so that they realize the bad effects of junk foods and benefits of healthy diet.
4. Patriotism – The future of the nation depends on its children. In today’s materialistic world it is imperative to instill essence of national pride and patriotism for developing children into caring citizens. Post 9/11, America is fighting with invisible enemies and strong patriotism among its citizens can only prevent and help overcome such crisis.
5. Interactive Learning - In this 21st century we must incorporate modern technology in teaching. Use of electronic black board should be promoted in classrooms all over America. Interactive DVD programs should be developed on various 500 subjects by the best brains in the country. This would give added dimension of sound and visuals in learning to the students. Even subjects like history and geography and others would be effectively taught with the help of interactive DVDs. Proposed "Free Virtual University" and Happiness TV channel will also be very helpful to the students.
6. Literature – In this intellectual age emphasis has shifted on to science and technology and children are drifting away from reading and writing literature. Recitation of poems should be encouraged as it helps to develop and strengthen human emotions.
7. Like Sesame Street TV Program, a complete new full time TV channel should be started for the students, so that they have choice to look at healthy, entertaining and educational programs.
8. Competition calls for excellence which helps improve the quality in general. There is a need to instigate healthy competition in the field of education for continuous improvement. An annual budget of $ 100 million should be reserved for giving prizes and medals to the students, teachers, schools and states for recognizing and commemorating excellence in education.
Total Investment : $ 5 Billion

MAGIC FORMULA FOR PROSPERITY
During the period from 1940 to 1970 interest rates remained very low and stable in America. It helped to make this great nation as the most powerful and the richest country in the world. Since the regime of President Carter, interest rates kept fluctuating, sometimes either shot up very high or at times extremely low. Currently, there is an urgent need to maintain the interest rate at 2% for the federal funds for a period of 20 years. For a stable and vibrant economy, fixed low interest rate on federal fund for 20 years span is very vital.
Once this plan is implemented, borrowing cost of US treasury will come down drastically. It will help reduce federal budget deficits.
This will be a win-win situation for all. Only a small section of people that invest in bank CDs or money market will suffer a bit. But, this loss will be counter balanced by high returns on their investment in the share market, as fixed low interest rates will boost up the market.
Mr. Warren Buffett may be made chairman of this presidential commission to suggest ways and means to implement this scheme of national importance.
It may be done in consultation and cooperation with E.U. and Japan. Once all these three major economies of the world set the rate of interest for Federal Government, borrowing and lending will be easier and the world economy across the globe will be benefited tremendously.
Subsequently, home mortgage loan rate will also come down to a level of 4%. The biggest beneficiary of this action will be the US Federal Government, as it is the biggest borrowers in the world today.
Total Cost : Nil
Total Saving : $ 50 billion
Annexure 6
MAGIC FORMULA FOR SAVING $ 200 BILLION EVERY YEAR
It is shocking to know that liability and class action suites in America are costing over $ 235 billion to American Corporation and Government every year, which are owned by large number of common citizen.
It is a great trauma on national economy and is a total wastage of national resources.
Therefore, a law may be framed and passed immediately to put a maximum cap of $ 1 million for any kind of liability and class action suites in America. This one law alone will bring in a great boom to the share market and American economy.
The only looser will be the rich attorneys and a few greedy people.
But, 99.5% Americans will be greatly benefited by the lower cost of health insurance, automobile insurance, etc.
Total Cost : Nil
Total Saving : $ 200 Billion
Annexure 7
EIGHT COMMISSIONS TO BE SET UP BY THE PRESIDENT
In order to bring a sea change in the socio-economic structure of the country and to address the ever-growing needs of infrastructure in the areas of health, agriculture, education, energy, and technology, I suggest setting up of following presidential commissions:
1. Presidential commission should be set up for inventing, promoting and implementing new alternate energy sources for America, so that dependence on foreign oil may be reduced. I suggest the name of Mr. Ross Perrot for the chairmanship of the proposed commission.
2. . A commission should be established for finding the ways to contain and reduce the terrorism. It should also develop strategies to transform the hatred of terrorists for America into love and to win their hearts and minds. Mr. George F. Will may be suitable person for the chairmanship of this commission.
3. The present education system needs an overhauling. Mr. William Bennett may be appointed as chairman for this commission for reforming education system.
4. A commission may be established for the research and development of new technologies. It would envisage the ways and means to extend the benefits of technology to the common people. The commission should also explore the benefits from latest technologies like neno technology, stem cell, biotechnology and should devise plans for speedy implementation to ensure gains for the society at large. Mr. Al Gore may be a suitable chairman for the commission.
5. Presidential commission should be set up to research and suggest ways to streamline the bolted bureaucracy and to reduce paper work and delays by 90% in this modern age of computers. Mr. Bill Gates can be the new Chairman of this Commission.
6. A commission should also be constituted for probing the issues related to agriculture and to suggest ways to realize the plans of doubling farmers’ income in 5 years.
7. Research and implementation of the plan for imparting training on job skills to 10 million people every year is an ambitious project. A presidential commission should be set up for the execution of this gigantic mission.
8. The present allopathic medical system imposes a huge financial burden on American society to the astronomical figure of $1.2 trillion per year and is still increasing. We need to have a paradigm shift in our approach and if even 1% of this amount is disbursed on alternative therapies, the results would be better than what we are getting from the present allopatic system. I am fully confident that this new approach will lead the society towards better health. Hence, a commission may be set up under the chairmanship of Dr. Deepak Chopra to research and suggest ways for promotion of the alternative holistic health therapies and help American society at large to be healthier.
Annexure 8
REVAMPING HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
Americans spends the highest amount of money in the world on its health care system. Its modern health system costs up to a huge sum of 1.3 trillion dollars a year. Still more than 40 million Americans are not health insured and diseases like obesity, AIDS, tuberculosis, cancer etc. are on the rise every year. Why is it so?
1. Modern medical system itself is based on inconsistent principles, which keep on changing. Medicines, which were used 10 years ago, are now discarded because of their toxic effects. If allopathic system of medicine is fully scientific, then why they were approved and prescribed in the first instance? Science means things and theories one can prove consistently. Hence, if these medicines are proven wrong today, it establishes the fact that they were wrong at that time too. In other words, they were not fully supported by the scientific facts. Rather, they were based on the interests of those pharmaceutical companies, who either manipulated the raw data for their own benefit or did not care to go through enough research on these medicines. Perhaps, there exists a huge nexus between big drug companies and medical profession.
2. How to save 90,000 lives every year?
More than ninety thousand Americans die in hospitals and homes only because physicians prescriptions are not legible or due to some misunderstanding in hospitals’ staff and administration while administering medicines to the patients. To resolve this problem, the American Federal Government should make it mandatory that all the prescriptions should include clear instructions regarding the sequence and combinations, in which medicines are to be taken. It should be printed in clearly legible capital letters.
In the modern computer age, it is of paramount importance that every physician must have a computer in his clinic. All the records pertaining to the medicines prescribed to the patient should be stored in computer. It must also have a database program to alert the physician, if a particular medicine prescribed by him is harmful for the patient, as the patient may be allergic or sensitive to certain medicines. The computer will be able to discard a particular medicine prescribed by the physician, if it does not match the patient’s history, like – blood pressure, sugar level or other medical parameters.
I suggest that the Federal Government should make this software costing $ 50 million. It should be provided free of cost to all medical practitioners in America. It may also be made available on the entire Internet network in the world for free download. This has been a totally neglected area concerned with public health.
The existing provisions in law also needs to be rectified, wherein allows only qualified physicians possessing a degree of M.D. to practice homeopathy, naturopathy or other established alternate therapies. This law may either be rectified or changed immediately. For holistic health purposes a homeopath or a naturopath qualified in his respective field may be allowed to practice these alternate therapies, although he or she may not be a qualified allopathic physician.
It is ironical to note that John D. Rockefeller, the richest man in the world, funded the research paper on the basis of which, a senate resolution was passed. It prohibited all the homeopaths and practitioners of other alternate therapies, from practicing their respective therapies unless they secure a qualifying medical degree from a medical college. This is how a flourishing thereby beneficial to human beings like homeopathy was put to slow death.
It is even more surprising to know that a person of Mr. Rockefeller’s status, took only homeopathic medicines throughout his life from who were not, but were experts in their own field.
It is also an interesting fact that not a single person ever died because of any wrong homeopathic medicine. They are very effective in treating a majority of human illnesses. Hence, there is no need to burden them with the irrelevant requirement of putting in eight years of study of allopathic system just to secure a MD degree and enable them to practice homeopathy.
Therefore, I request the Federal Government to change this law and allow a homeopath who has studied the subject from a recognized institution located in any part of the world to practice homeopathic system of healing. It is has not shown any side effect or any death among millions of people who take it world over. In most of these countries homeopaths are allowed to practice, though not be having a degree of M.D.
There is simply no correlation between the two systems of treatment – allopathic and homeopathic, as both the systems have completely different sets of rules and principles. Therefore, the restriction of getting a M.D. degree, before practicing homeopathy, must be abolished with immediate effect. This one act will benefit millions of Americans and it will help to bring down the cost of treatment drastically.
A fund of one billion dollar per annum should be allocated to re-establish harmless alternate therapies like Yoga, Naturopathy, Color therapy, Ayurveda, Homeopathy etc., so that people can get simple cost-effective and harmless medication to treat their illnesses and live a long healthy and vibrant life.
American drug companies spend 35% of their total budget on sales and marketing of the drugs. While they spend only 15% on research. Therefore advertising of prescription drugs for consumers should be banned. This one law will solve and help divert these funds for research and development of better remedies.
Promoting Miracle of Stem Cell
New research in the field of ‘Stem Cells’ may be fully encouraged and $ 1 billion per year may be granted for its research work. Proper safeguards are needed against immoral and unethical use of stem cells for human cloning. As far as human cloning is concerned it should be out-rightly banned.
But, this does not warrant a ban or discouraging research on stem cell, because this is going to be a very cost effective and beneficial technique for the treatment of human illnesses. In fact, stem cells have a power for transforming a weak heart, kidney, liver, brain etc. into entirely healthy and rejuvenated organs at a very low cost without going in for any surgery. A physician simply injects a stem cell preparation in the patient’s body, and these cells generate new organs or repair the damaged ones.
A needless debate is going on in America, whether the government should promote the stem cell research or not. I think it is inhuman and unethical to stop a miraculous technique from flowering and benefiting human beings. In this regard, many people have selfish and thoughtless motives, hence, a proper public awareness and information campaign is urgently needed to make people understand the vast benefits of stem cell therapy.
Some other factors that may help Americans to lead a healthy life are also given below to help Government to frame right policies :
Diet and Nutritional Deficiencies
Food can make or break our health. Increasingly, factors related to food, like its quality, nutritional constituents, even how it is grown and processed etc. are considered a primary agents for contributing to the initiation and promotion of cancer. According to the National Academy of Sciences 60% of cancers in women and 40% cases in men may be due to dietary and nutritional factors.
One of the major factors accounting for the steady rise in cancer incidences and mortality rates is a nutritional imbalance. The rise of degenerative disease has paralleled the adoption of an overly refined and adulterated, high-protein, high fat diet over the past 100 years. After World War II, the US population shifted away from regular consumption of whole grains and fresh vegetables, and instead increased its consumption of less wholesome, overly refined foods. This so-called affluent diet is high in fat, which can more readily concentrate such chemicals as pesticides preservatives, and industrial pollutants. The National Research Council’s extensive report in 1982 titled ‘Diet, Nutrition and Cancer’, provided strong evidence that much of the rise in cancer rates may be related to typical US dietary practices.
Excessive intake of Animal Protein
The high intake of animal protein is associated with an increased risk of breast, colon, pancreatic, kidney, and prostate and endometrial cancers. Excessive protein may produce large amounts of nitrogenous waste in the intestine, some of which can be converted to highly carcinogenic nitrosamines and ammonium salts. Heavy-protein diets may also cause the building up of metabolic acids in the body and cause large amounts of calcium to be leached from the bones. This is an obvious problem for women hoping to prevent osteoporosis, but also a serious detriment in the case of bone cancer, when bone-calcium reserves tend to be mobilized and depleted.
A causal relationship between red meat consumption and cancer is supported by several large studies conducted in the US Specifically; women with the highest level of meat consumption had double the rate of breast cancer compared to those who consumed small amounts of meat. Men who ate red meat over a 5-year period were nearly three times more likely to contract advanced prostate cancer, than men consuming mainly vegetarian fare. High rates of colon cancer have recently been linked to a regular intake of beef, pork or lamb. In each of these studies, the meat-eating risks are associated with fat intake as well, since American meats are typically high in fat and fat-soluble toxins like pesticides and herbicides.
The link between cancer and meat eaters’ exposure to toxic chemicals goes even deeper. All fried and broiled foods contain mutagens, chemicals that can damage or mutate cellular reproductive material, but fried and broiled meats have far more mutagens than similarly prepared plant foods. Additionally, potentially cancer causing substances are produced when meat, poultry or fish are fried, broiled, grilled or barbecued for a long time at high temperatures.
Irradiated Foods
the intent of food irradiation is to kill insects, bacteria, molds, and fungi and thus to extend shelf life, but the results might be dangerous to consumers. The process of irradiation leads to the formation of toxic substances, such as benzene and formaldehyde, and other chemical by-products that have been associated with cancer risk. For example, food irradiation may increase the levels of aflatoxin, a deadly carcinogenic, it may allow the botulinum toxin (which causes botulism food poisoning) to remain undetected in irradiated foods, and over time, it may induce some microorganisms to mutate, giving rise to new dangerous species. When food additives and food contaminants are irradiated, they are transformed into "unique radiolytic products" of uncertain toxicity. The FDA estimates that 10% of the chemicals in irradiated foods are not found in normal (non-irradiated) foods and are unknown to science."
Food Additives of the 3,000 chemical additives introduced into the American food supply each year, only a small fraction have been tested for their effects on humans (most are tested on animals). Among the most common are aspartame, saccharin, and cyclamates, artificial sweeteners that have been linked to a greater incidence of cancer, butlyated hydroxytoluene, and a food preservative that may contribute to liver cancer; and tannic acid present in wines and fruits and linked to liver cancer. Other food additives that may increase the risk of certain kinds of cancer include Blue Dye No.2, propyl gallate, and Red Dye No.3.
Mercury Toxicity
As even a smallest amount of no.11 micro-molecule of mercury can cause 92% reduction in brain tubulin activity, which may result in Alzheimer disease.
Mercury a toxic heavy metal that often comprises up to 55% of "silver" amalgam dental fillings is a noted carcinogen. Microscopic mercury is released into the body of the person with an amalgamated filling every time the person chews. Like other heavy metals, mercury has been shown to cause damage to the lining of arteries and nerve bundles, thereby contributing to cancer. In addition, heavy metals act as free redicals, highly reactive, charged particles that can cause damage to body tissues if inhaled or absorbed. The international Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) cites evidence indicating that dental mercury amalgams are a major contributor to immune dysfunction and free-radical pathologies including cancer, kidney dysfunction, and cardiovascular disease. Therefore mercury amalgamated dental filling should be immediately banned.
Pesticide/Herbicide Residues
Clear evidence has linked long-term exposure to pesticides with cancer, leading a consortium of 75 Environmental Protection Agency experts to rank pesticide residues among the top three environmentally derived cancer risks. "Many cancer-causing pesticides and industrial chemicals found in the environment and in our foods tend to accumulate in fatty tissues, whether in fish, cattle, fowl, or people", notes Dr Epstein. "Although these chemicals for the most part have been banned or strictly regulated, they are very durable and remain in the environment for a long time. Crops grown in soil contaminated with these chemicals will pass on their residue to the animals that are fed with them, where they will accumulate in the fatty tissues. If persons choose foods with the high concentrations of these chemicals, then they too will build up higher and higher concentrations of the same chemicals in their own fatty tissue." This process is known as bio-accumulation and according to Dr. Epstein these fat-soluble carcinogens are found in highest concentrations in the body’s fattiest tissues, such as the brain, sexual organs, and breasts.
Unfortunately, the use of these poisons is not being curtailed; rather it has increased tenfold since the introduction of DDT in the 1940s. In the past 50 years, 15000 chemical compounds and more than 35000 different formulations have come into use as pesticides and herbicides worldwide. Many of those banned in the U.S. (including DDT) are sold to Third World countries, where they enter food products, such as coffee, fruits and vegetables that are then imported into the U.S. In addition to agricultural uses, household and garden pesticides and herbicides represent another major source of toxicity. Therefore most of these poisonous and harmful pesticides should be banned.
Industrial Toxins
A great number of highly toxic chemicals, materials, and heavy metals are released by industrial processes. These toxins later can find their way into human tissue, where they have negative health effect, including cancer.
By 1980 the Environmental Protection Agency had detected over 400 toxic chemicals in human tissue. Some industrial by – products minimize the activity of estrogen once inside the body, creating havoc in hormonal balance. Therefore, it is high time that a national task force should be set up under the chairmanship of Dr. Deepak Chopra to study and suggest ways to ban and replace them with organic substances and natural pesticides like Neem.
